31 days

Today is the 31st day of  my new life.  I celebrated in Regina with our goodfriends Rick and Alexis, by going to my new favorite place...........Mongoli Grill. Not much of a celebration, but it was so nice to have their company.  We miss them alot, and don't get a lot of time to visit with them.

I weigh in on Thursday.  I think things will go a bit better then it did last week.  We shall see...........

Regina

Wholly nice weather!!!!!!!

Last night I met Laurel's boss and her previous boss for supper at the Barley Mill. Great food and a nice place. Much better experance then Sunday night. Made the traditional Wal Mart visit as well. I tried on a couple of shirts. Not quite ready for the big purchase but I am going to buy at Walmart for sure. I can hardly wait.

I have been very conscious of food choices to date. That won't change for a while. Today is day 31. Thursday is weigh in. As long as I have lost something this makes it all worthwhile.

Our niece Tiffany is a registered dietician. Her blog is attached to the right. Not sure if she agrees with what I am doing. She provided us a meal plan and portion control guides. Using her information will be a priority when I get to maintence in this program.

Regina

Back to the Queen City for 3 more days of training. It's been some wonderful weather too.

Last night I met my oldest brother and his wife, my nephew and his friend for supper. We ate at the Beer Bros on Scarth. I would recommend u not go. Service was very slow and not up to quality for a restaurant that claims great food and atmosphere. The food was no hell either. Small portions and expensive. Not a great deal for me as I need that meal in my program. Oh well looks Mongoli Grill tonight for a big veggie feed.

Fish Fry

Lasty night after our golf we had a fish fry at M and E's. M did ther fish in a very light batter and fried in oil. It was so delicious. I had more then 7 ozs for sure. I ate till I was comfortable. Not likely prepared the way we should have had it done, but I think it was fine. Lots of salad and veggies too. Dessert was non-existant for me, and it was ice cream. I was once again showing my willpower, and declined any sweets. Even through the day no alcohol at all.

Today I really feel tired. Not sure why. Missed the vitamns at supper and before bed. That and the fish may have something to do with it.

I weighed myself yesterday morning and was down 7.7 lbs from Thursday's official weigh in. It appears all my weigh in's will continue in the mornings.

Totally Disappointed!

I weighed in today, and was so excited.  I had 3 terrific weigh in's, and was very much looking forward to this one.  I was anticipating hitting the single digits and losing about 10 inches.  So at 5:30 PM I was on the scale at Lana`s.  I was totally ddisgusted at the results.  I lost bagels, zippo, zero and nada.  Absolutely no weight loss what so ever.  Not only that I lost a total combined inches of .5``.  Albiet 1 inch off my stomach and .5 from my hips.  I gained on my legs and arms.  How is that possible..........

I talked to Lana and Laurel who was there with me. I guess part of it is that I usually weigh in the morning.  It was now 8 hours later.  I had a bit of a cheat last weekend, and I had some significant losses in previous weeks.  Not that it makes the situation any easier to swallow, oops.....I just gained another pound, but I guess it can`t all be good.  It`s been 25 days since I started so that is 1 lb a day since I started and about 1 inch a day as well.  I guess if I knew this was the way it would be, I wouldn`t be so upset about it.  It just sucks right now, especially cause I thought I had done so well.  I will just have to try and keep positive and keep it up.  It is working and I see the results.  It will all come back around, I know it.

299 will just have to wait for 3 more weeks................

Moving Forward

Today, Tuesday, I started to introduce some regular food back to my diet.  What I mean is that instead of the usual supper of a protein and salad/vegetables.  I chose eggs for an omelet.  I used turkey bacon, son=me egg whites and 2 eggs.  A bit more protein than I probably needed but it was very good.  A real nice change.  Added green onion, green pepper and the mother of all treats..................no not ice cream!.....a bit of shredded cheese.  Probably about 2 - 3 tablespoons.  Lana told me today, that we can try cheese, just sparingly though.  Feta is good as well, and I will try a couple of dressings making it with feta.  See how that pans out.  Restricted to only once a week.  No more!!!!!!  lol.............

Weigh in #3 coming on Thursday after work.  Not sure what to expect this week.  If there is not much weight loss, then I needs to go back to no extras.

I still continue to feel good.  Exercise is the next part of the process.  I think it will also help me to realize that the diet is more then just choice eating.  Exercise is a must, even in little amounts.  I know Jill and Candace will agree.................................

Saskatoon

This weekend we attended the inaugural Saskatchewan Golf Hall of Fame golf tournament and banquet.  We played golf at the Willows.  I shit the bed........not sure the last time I shot a 92.  It was a pretty nice day, but I think my head was up my azz........

I made a mistake yesterday, and did not eat enough food at lunch.  I had a protein bar but that was it.  As the afternoon wore on,  I got to experience the real feeling of hunger versus dehydration.  By the time supper came along, I was extremely hungry and had been having stomach pains.  I will not do that again.  Geez, I don't eat like before and when my body is hungry I gotta feed it......

Supper was a carbohydrate feast!  Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, mixed veggies and prime rib and gravy.  Started salad of spinach, sun dried tomatoes and raspberry vinaigrette.  Cheesecake for dessert with Saskatoon topping.  I had my 1st official cheat and ate 2 of the Yorkshire pudding.  I remember my grandmother used to make it and I just love it.  I tried to get as much broccoli as I could, and had a pretty nice piece of beef.  The dessert was sampled too, but I was able to eat a few small fork fulls and leave the rest.  I was real proud of myself for that.  Normally it would  have been devoured and looking for the rest of Laurel's.   The information I have read, tells me that the bit of food I had that is full of carbs and sugar, will take 3 days to be run from system.  That means no weight loss in those 3 days.  I know my weight from Saturday morning,so I will see Monday how it effected me.  And then Thursday will be the real tell.  I think after the 3 weeks, I deserved a bit of a change.  It was very good, but it's back to the routine tomorrow.

I have still got a lot of  energy and ready to keep forging ahead.  I have found this so easy and accommodating to my life style.   There is no pressure at all.  And the process is simple and really enjoyable.

We got to see Jack G today.  I posted a photo of Laurel and Jack from the hospital.  He is adorable.

WE ARE GRANDPARENTS.........

well, not quite.  Our really good friends Kim and Janna, are the very happy parents of a brand new baby boy, Jack Ray Alain Gobeil.  He was born yesterday at around 12 noon in Sasktoon.  Laurel said last night that she felt like a happy grandma.  We are so happy for them both and are hoping to see the newest addition real soon.

This weekend is the inaugural Saskatchewan Golf Hall of Fame banquet and golf tournament.  It's being held at the Willow's Golf Club.  We golf at 11AM and banquet at 6:30 PM.  Laurel's ex schoolmate is Nancy Moen Harvey,  who played on the LPGA Tour, is being inducted.  She unfortunately is unable to attend, but it will be a nice honour for her.

3 weeks tomorrow and 25 lbs.  less.  Today I had a bit of a different day.  Really never ate much at lunch,  just a protein meal.  It was a day that I was not really sure what I wanted.  I had empty feelings but couldn't figure out the exact need.  Supper rolled around and I was pretty hungry.  Ate some pork baked with mushroom soup, mushrooms and asparagus in the last 15 minutes.  It was awesome.  Now, I am quite content and happy tummy is happy Dave!!!!!

Facts!

Today was a great day.  I am in the teens for the 1st time in so many years, and I have lost 2 feet of size.  That means I am now taking up 2 feet less in this world as of this morning.  WOO HOO  less taxes!  Hell if it was only that easy.

Since March of this year, Lana has 60 people join her program in Tisdale.  She has recorded a combined 1480 lbs lost, and nearly 2355 inches in total.  1.5 tonnes of weight and almost 200 feet of inches.  Enough to go the full length of a hockey arena ice surface.  That`s crazy.  Collectively we lost 30 kids in grade 1.  The program seems to be gaining popularity.  Lana measured another 7 people last night.  It`s catching on.

Lana has done well on the program herself.  She looks awesome.  She is eager to help and support you.  She is encouraging and likes to chat about what is happening with you.  I like her a lot.  Maybe she will need`s to step up to be a district consultant.  She would be good at it.  I think I would like to try and be a consultant myself.  I think I could do a good job at it.  And besides, I am having a great time talking about the program and how it`s working.  I can related to some people I believe and the issues they may have.

Okay........................next Thursday`s weigh in is in the afternoon.  Shooting for the single digits!!!!!

Today's Weight

My new weight at 9:15. 25 lbs since August 28th. Another 5 1/2 inches for 23 approx total

I got some cool numbers to share with u later.

Damn, I am going to be hot soon................

My bobblehead.jpg

My staff gave this bobblehead for Christmas last year. It's the image of me I am shooting for. It was one of the coolest gifts I have ever gotten.

Tomorrow at 915 is weigh in. It will be 19 days in the program. I am excited. I might be looking at the teens for the 1st time in a million years.

It is making a difference

Earlier today, I was asked about the weight loss program.  They person who asked said that if it can make my face shrink in the 2 weeks since I started, like my face has shrunk they want to get on the program, and fast.  Apparently they have a butt issue to deal with..................

My weight appears to be coming of my upper body, more then the love budha.  If the size change would be as noticeable in the budha, then I would ecstatic!  Don't get me wrong I am happy with the results I have, but the budha still is pretty large.  One thing for sure, my neck has shrunk and all my shirts look like the voodoo doll where the head is tiny and the body is normal....

Mongolie Grill

So last night I arrived into Regina for a week of training new staff.  My partner in training, is Roxanne from NB.  We chose to go to the Mongolie Grill on the east of end of Regina.  It is a great stir fry restaurant, that allows you to choose your ingredients buffet style.  It was really good.  So good, that Roxanne decided we needed to go back there again tonight.  I have to say that it is a great place to eat and follows pretty well, what I need to be able to stay on track.  It is a pretty nice place, so you should try it sometimes.  I think Laurel and I will be frequenting it again when we come back.

I had another person ask me to day if I was losing weight.  They said they noticed my face and neck had shrunk.  I never really noticed that, but I had to stand in the mirror and check it out.  I really don't see any change, but it's a couple of times I have been asked that.  I guess we'll see Thursday at the weigh in/measure up day.

I am having a bit of a tough couple of days.  I am into some pretty hard cravings.  I want a dish of ice cream real bad.  Not only that, I would kill for a bag of Hawkin's Cheezies.  not sure why, but they are the 2 things I can smell every where I go.  I have to confess, I arrived home from Elbow and Laurel was in Esterhazy.  Keegan had ordered a pizza, and there was leftovers in the fridge.  I was about 5 seconds away from having a slice.  I put it in my hands and had it ready to eat.  I am not sure why, I was hungry, but I lost my will power for a second.  I immediately split the pizza, and my two furry kids each got to enjoy the piece.  I did like my fingers though.....................I will have that treat, but not for another couple of weeks.  I want the treat to be my reward.  I think that is important for me, so I can keep this up.  That moment was a big step for me.  Had I eaten the pizza, I think the whole process would have been ruined for me.  I beat the craving and I beat the lack of will power.  And beyond that, I made myself proud!

Sunday

Got home from my meetings in Elbow last night.  It ¸was a good day of golf.  Windy and reasonable temperature.  We played a stableford format, and I had 40 points.  That was enough to win me a $50 gift certificate.  So, next June when we go back for meetings, I will be buying an off the rack golf shirt with the $50.

We had turkey for supper.  I had a large salad, ranch on the side, took 4 brussel sprouts and a enough stuffing for taste as a treat.  The supper was really good.  Earlier in the afternoon, I was hungry so asked the people at the clubhouse if they could do vegetables for me.  They were really accommodating.  That makes it easy to follow the program.  It`s nice that there is no poor choice to make.  Outside of the veggies my choices were not that good, so I was very happy they gave me the veggies.

2 weeks yesterday, and it appears that there are some things missing on me.  Like about 20 lbs and some lumps that used to be there.  Having people ask what I am doing and actually noticing a bit of a change is encouraging.

This week we start a new session of training in Regina.  Arrangements have been made for my dietary needs, so I anticipate no problems to keep moving forward..............

Elbow

Got my 1st opportunity to try this new way byself. I am in Elbow at meetings for our Golf Association. Played 18 in the rain and wind, and then had to bare the bad news of our ED moving on in his career. It was a shock to our entire board. However he is a young father of triplets who need their dad to be there. We totally understand and wish Daniel and Jill all the best. We will miss him. I know a friend he will be forever.

So the diet went good. A couple people asked if I had lost some weight. That was kinda cool. Restarant eating has been pretty good so far this 2 weeks. I hope it continues.

Tomorrow is golf and supper. It will be a fun day.

New Blog List

I have added a list of blogs I would recommend you look at.  My 1st one is my blog  Mentor, Janna.  She is a terrific lady that has an incredible talent in photography.  Her husband Kim and J, are great friends and have been so supportive of this process for me.  We miss them being close, but we treasure all our time we can spend with them.  They are soon to be parents for the 1st time, and we couldn't be happier for them.

Check out her blog and Swoon Photography!!!!!!

So.......

Crazy day at work, led me to try and make it from breakfast to supper with only a protein packet.  It was a stupid decision.  I had to go to Subway and get my favourite salad.  One thing I am learning is that when you can eat unlimited lettuce and cups of vegetables, you need to make sure you have them when you can.  Yesterday I missed supper, other then a protein pack.  I had my snack at night, but by 4AM I was really ready to eat again.  I drank a couple of glasses of water and all was fine.  I could hardly wait to have the breakfast drink this morning.

Our beautiful and radiant pregnant friend Janna introduced use to lettuce wraps a couple of months ago.  they are freakin' awesome.  You make a mixture of ground chicken and stuff to create a dish that is served in lettuce leaves, and a sauce is poured over the chicken.  Incredible meal, and almost perfect for this diet.  I will get Laurel to give me the recipe to share.

I am on my on this weekend in Elbow for some meetings and golf.  I have my food and vitamins packed, but I got no Laurel to remind me of stuff.  She is on her way to Esterhazy for our niece's birthday.  Shae was born the morning of 9/11.  I remember the call, and then the shock of the TV reports from our living room.  One happy occasion and one tragedy all with in moments of each other.  We need to live each day, like it's a whole new challenge.  Kind of like our dogs.  Every 15 minutes is a new day for them, and they live for now not the past.

I am felling great and truly enjoying the new challenge.  No heart burn, acid reflux or bloated feelings for about 10 days.  I like not having those issues.

Woo Hoo......long weekend.

What thing have I given up that I regret

Someone asked me this morning what it was that I have had to give up in the 2 weeks, that I regret the most.  I can't answer that because I haven't given up anything I haven't wanted to.  This is short term, and I know there will be things that I will see again, like ice cream and potatoe chips.  Long term, what it means to me is that if I don't change my way, the thing I would have regreted giving up the most, is life.....

Does that make sense???

Back Home

Well, the weekend is over and I think I did pretty well.  No real issues with the food or problems staying on track.  I missed a couple of protein's, but supplemented that with salad.  I know the protein is the main stay of the diet, but accommodating the situation changes the plan sometimes.  My next big challenge will be this weekend, with meetings in Elbow.  Small town, and not many select places to eat.  I think I will need to be a bit more prepared for "just in case".

We have figured out that the cost is not much more then regular food purchases.  It is costing me about $80 a week.  I am supplementing with veges and such, and that may be another $35.  So, overall the cost is reflective to many budgets.  I would suspect that people who are cooking for more then themselves may find it a bit more expensive, but salad and veges should be part of every meal anyway.

Tomorrow 9:15 AM is the weigh in.  I will update from my BB when it's completed.

I am a lucky guy!!!!

So, last night was the reunion banquet in Swift Current.  A great time.  Supper was a lot of salad and some baked ham.  No alcohol,  couple of decaf coffees and a Fresca.  It was a really nice evening.  The whole weekend was $50éperson which included a meet and greet Friday and the supper at the Casino on Saturday.  Unfortunately, the group was short some money.  They had some door prizes at the supper.  One was a gold club.  They decided that they would sell some tickets., $5 a ticket, to try and raise cash.  Well, this lucky guy is coming home with a brand new Taylormade R9 driver...........retail value $700.  Funny thing was, on Thursday at Golftown, I test drove this exact driver.  It had to be Karma, or maybe my reward for being hit by a golf ball from the club of the organizer.  Either way, I got the club and a bruise as my reward!!!!!!

I feel pretty good for 8 days in.  I missed a protein today because we were out shopping, and it never really bothered me.  However, I have to have these, as they are the main component for the diet.  I will make sure I am better prepared to leave the house.

Tuesday is weigh on and measuring.  I am really excited about it.  I put on a pair of pants for the supper last night, and the feeling I got from having to tighten the belt was pretty cool.  No idea what the results will be, but I am convinced the 1st week went well.

Labor day is our drive home.  Looking forward to a veggie salad from Subway, with sweet onion dressing.  Go have one, they are awesome!!!!

Saturday in Swift

I got 2 minutes so here it goes.........

Enjoyed a great day of golf with Laurel and 2 of her schoolmates.  It was a fun time.  One of the groups behind us, must not have liked me as he hit me with a ball..  must have been an old BF of Laurels.

Had a great weight day too...............everything went well.  Had a good supper of chicken and veges.  Tonight will be the test, with a buffet supper.  I am committed to this system, so protein and veges.  It will be all good..................

Swift Current

Made it to Swift Current later last evening.  Lots of water here, wholly crap.  The mosquito population is unbelievable through Rosetown and the Landing were unbelievable.  I think they know that my blood has started to become richer...........

We dropped the dogs off yesterday morning at the kennel.  They love Melfort kennels.  We open the door and they disappear to the back.  No hugs no kisses not even a good bye.  We actually become invisible.  LOL.  Thank god we have such a wonderful place to house them while we are away.

So today is the last day of my 1st unofficial week.  I will continue with 5 protein meals today, and reduce to 3 tomorrow, Saturday.  It is interesting how it works, but 6 days ago, I could hardly wait to get another shake because I had the feeling of hunger.  Last night, I was to have a snack, but felt quite full.  So I had half.  We ate a Chicken Chipolte salad at Tony Romas, sans the tortilla chips and cheese.  I was very good.  Finding restaurants to cater to special requests is not that hard.  More and more people have a good handle on better eating, and thus the abilities for special orders.

I see one of my co-workers has joined my list of Azz Kickers.  He is a great friend and someone that I think can relate to my issues.  We saw each other a couple of weeks ago, and he was looking pretty good.  Just another reason for me to make this decision and get my own looking good feeling.  I do not want Zesty out there being the only good looking dude at SGI!

Someone asked me if it is all its cranked up to be, has it been worth it.  It is WAY to early for me to know that, however I have seen the results from others.  I would say yes.  They are looking incredible and I see amazing transitions.

Okay, off to play the Chinook in Swift Current.  Later!!

ROAD TRIP!

We are off to Swift Current for Laurel's 30th High School Reunion.  I understand those crazy kids from the Speedy Creek know how to party.................

Had a bit of an issue last night after supper.  I had eaten the ceasar salad probably a few more oz's of steak then I should have.  Later I had to drive the porcelain bus.  Not sure why the reaction, but I think I will need to be cautious.  Maybe chicken and fish for a while!!!

These protein packets are really amazing.  It's hard to believe that 200 ml's of water and powder drink crystals, as an example, can be what u need to survive.  However, it seems to work..............go figure.  And in a few weeks I can start doing some regular exercises, so that oughta help a bit.  No exercising for the 1st couple weeks, so they know if my heart rate will decrease and how my blood pressure reacts.  Once I am sure of what I can do, then a gradual process will begin.

Golf Day

Today wasa the annual RCMP golf tournament.  Our very good friends Tom and Wanda came up from Melville, and played with Laurel and I.  The whole day was spectacular.  Wonderful weather, good golf and I never cheated on anything.  No booze, no snacks and a supper of steak and ceasar salad.  Okay, a bit of a cheat maybe, as the supper was simple potatoe and bread with the steak and salad. I passed on the potatoe and bread, as it is a no no right now, and I removed all the crouton and ate salad, which had dressing on it.  Laurel told me over all, it wasn't to bad.  So, I feel good.  My tummy is full from the red meat, but I think I done okay.

Kelly my noldest niece asked me to set some goals and rewards to post.  I will share one goal with you.  I want to be below 300 lbs, and walk into our men's store and buy a golf shirt.  That probably doesn't seem like much of a goal, but for 30 years, I have shopped at specialty stores and ordered off the internet.  I want to know the feeling of walking into a store that everyone goes to, and come out with a shirt I can wear.  Hell, Walmart would be okay.  It is a desire I have and I am going to make it happen!!

well..............it's been a great day.  The dogs need to be fed, and I am on vaccum duty.
